Magento is an eCommerce application that can be used to create an online store. Before you start earning money from your store, you will need to add products. Fortunately, Magento makes it simple to add products.
Step 1 – Install and Setup Magento
If you haven’t already got a working and active Magento store, then you will need to do this first. Check out our guide on downloading, installing and setting up Magento. Once you have an active installation of Magento, you can then continue to add products. View top ecommerce platforms
Step 2 – Log into the Admin Area
Log into the admin area of your Magento store; you can do this using the username and password you set when installing the software.
Step 3 – Add Products
Click catalog, and then manage products. This will load a list of products that are currently in your store. If it’s a new store, then it will either be empty or populated with sample products. At the top of the screen, there is a large orange button marked “Add Product” Click on this button.
It will then display the new product form. Select the Attribute Set and the Product Type from the drop-down menus. Then click the continue button.
Step 4 – Add Product Details
On the next page, you will need to enter various details about the product. These include the name, unit of measure, status, tax, visibility and weight. You can leave some of these fields empty, but anything with a red star needs to be entered.
Step 5 – Price
Click Save and continue to get to the next screen, and then add price. The rest of the fields can be left empty unless you plan on using the information.
Step 6 – Description
On the next page, you will need to enter a description and short description for the product. As well as entering this as plain text, it’s also possible to use a WYSIWYG editor to make it that bit easier. How to Change Magento Theme
Step 7 – Add Images
It’s easy to add images to your products. Select them on the manage products screen and then click the images option in the menu. Navigate to the image on your computer and click Save to upload the image.
Step 8 – Test Products
It’s worth visiting your store just to check that the products are visible. If they aren’t then check the stock status of the products in the admin panel.
